Lynn-a-ritas

This recipe comes from my sister-in-law, Lynn. She and my brother Johnny were famous for always bringing a big pitcher of these to any potluck party.

1 large can limeade
1 limeade can full of tequila
1 bottle Corona
1 can 7-Up

Mix together and serve over lots of ice in a salted glass.

If you don't want it quite as sweet, substitute club soda for the 7-Up.

White Sangria

This is another fresh and fruity summer drink.

2 bottles white wine
1 cup peach schnappes or peach brandy
1/2 cup triple sec
1 cup orange juice
1 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup chilled simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, cooked together until simmering)

Orange Slices
Fresh pineapple chunks
Fresh peeled peach slices
green grapes
peeled kiwi slices

Mix together all liquid ingredients in a 1 gallon glass container with lid.  Put in whatever fruits you want, and stir well.  Store in refrigerator for 24 hours, stirring a few times to re-distribute fruit.

Red Sangria

Sangria is such a fun and tasty summer drink.  This is a really simple recipe that is easy to change or play with to make it your own.   No matter what you put in it, I promise it will be good!

2 bottles red wine (not expensive, but also not "vinegar"!)
1 cup brandy, sherry or port (whatever feels right at the time)
1/2 cup triple sec
1 cup orange juice
1 cup pomegranate juice
1/2 cup chilled simple syrup. (Mix equal parts sugar and water, heat until simmering and sugar dissolves).

Orange slices
Apple slices
Berries
Grapes

Mix all the liquid ingredients into a 1 gallon glass container with a lid.  Stir in as much fruit as you would like, and stir well.  Store in refrigerator for 24 hours, stirring a few times to re-distribute the fruit.

Limoncello

I've made this liquor with friends, it's a VERY fun time!  (Just make sure to save a bottle of your last "vintage" for everyone to drink while they are working).

THINGS YOU NEED:

4 empty 750ml bottles with lids
1 gallon glass jar with lid
Fine grater (micro plane works great) or super sharp potato peeler
Lemon juicer
Pan with lid.
Large freezer container

2 -  750 ml bottles vodka. ( I use one of plain vodka and one lemon flavored)

12 large lemons

3 cups sugar

2 cups water

Zest the lemons, being careful to not have too much white pith attached.
Mix the lemon zest with the vodka in large glass jar with lid (a sun tea jar works great). Place in a cool, dark place for 1 week.

Make simple syrup by boiling water and then adding sugar to to it, mixing well.
Juice the lemons and add juice to the cooled simple syrup. Place in freezer.

One week later, bring out the vodka, drain off the lemon zest and mix VERY well with the thawed juice/syrup mixture. Pour into clean glass bottles (save the 2 vodka bottles to use and then whatever else is handy).
Keep in freezer.
